I’m back from GenCon: Indy and am getting ready to help out with Wizard World: Chicago next weekend. GenCon was a learning experience this year; it was announced that I’m one of the developers for a card game based on the HACK/SLASH comic which is now published through Image. Between promoting the demo with Matt, handing out cards for THE QUEEN OF CROWS and speaking on panels through the Writer’s Symposium, I was pretty swamped.

The good news is that I’m taking the next step for a game based on the Violet War pre-1900s. People have been asking about a game, so this would be a good chance to test the waters. There’s enough material in the setting that it wouldn’t conflict with the modern-day story.

Speaking of ARGENTUM…about a month ago I stopped working for my full-time job. Ever since then, I’ve been hauling my bum all over the place to figure out what I want to do. Over the past few years, I’ve been approached several times by people who either want me to invest in or have asked me to start up my own business. The right side of my brain is saying, “Hey, Monica. You need to think about money.” The left side of my brain is saying “Wheeeeeeeeee! Now you can write!!!!!!”

Needless to say, balancing the two is definitely a juggling act. So ARGENTUM is on the table, but I also need to pay attention to my more immediate concerns. Things are shaping up on that front, though. I just need a routine.

Life is actually great! Now that I have more time on my hands, I’m focusing on the more creative aspects while I figure out the real life stuff. I also have to get back to some sort of a strict word count schedule, which is difficult given the convention next week and over Labor Day weekend.

The best part about this, is that my writing is a lot more fun. That, to me, is the most important thing.
